Chucky wanted to send you his Christmas cheer, so straight from Chucky's mouth "Ho Ho Ho".
Okay wait a minute, I can tell that you have more than Christmas on your mind, you must be gearing up to sleep all winter. Lets try this again: "Ho Ho Ho".
That's more like it. Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope you have a great holiday and if you are traveling please be safe. See you soon!

Feeling Flush....
I tell you what, as a groundhog it seems like you catch a lot of crap for what the weather does or doesn't do. People want to dump all over you for it, this isn't a topic I would sh*t you about.
The news coverage about my shadow is good but it sure isn't 2 ply. Hover around your computer to stay updated about our event!

Check Out That Caboose!!!
Some people have been spending more time with a companion with a wider backside than they have before, I am just now taking that step.
I just picked up my fat bike today, a sweet Salsa Mukluk and it is ready to roll on some gravel and single track. I told my wife I was thinking about calling it J Lo because this bike has some "junk in the trunk", she thought that was funny but not too crazy about me riding a bike with that name. 18 years of marriage tells me I better go with my wife on this one :-)
Thanks to Cycle City Bike And Running Company for getting me hooked up with another great ride!

What Is This All About?
Maybe some of you are new to gravel grinding and are wondering what this is all about, I was in those shoes myself a while back. The first time I went on a gravel ride was a group ride that Pappy had put together, I really wasn't sure about it but I always enjoy a group ride. At that point I was riding my mountain bike because I didn't have a cross bike yet. I'll be honest, I wasn't very far into the ride and I was thinking to myself "I don't get it, what is the attraction to riding gravel?". I continued on and went on more rides that season and with each ride I grew to enjoy it more and more. Now it is one of my favorite riding options, in our neck of the woods there are so many gravel options with miles and miles available. Now I find myself looking at almost every gravel road as I am riding in a car, the ones that seem to disappear into a tree covered lane are the ones that really get my attention.
I'm glad I didn't go with my first feeling about it!

Chucky Is Feeling Festive This Time Of Year
Tis the season for Holiday cheer, probably eating too much, the hustle and bustle of shopping and of course for RIDING GRAVEL!!! Just wanted to get a date to you out there for the upcoming Chucky's Challenge which will be held Saturday February 7, 2015.
Don't be caught like a groundhog in the headlights, get your gravel rolling, or for those of you in great fitness already, keep your gravel rolling! I am speaking to myself in the first comment, everyday is a new day and a great opportunity to get rolling. If you are a seasoned gravel vet or a newbie this is a great event to come and enjoy our Greenhills Gravel.
Last year we had unfortunate weather that prohibited our event, some of the area is very remote and access just was not an option so we decided to delay and eventually had to cancel. Keep informed by checking out this site often as I hope to have more tidbits as the time draws near.

Chucky's Postponed
I ran into Mother Nature the other day and maybe I made a mistake, she asked me if her outfit made her look fat. I gave the correct answer which was "No" but I probably shouldn't have looked her up and down with a puzzled look before I answered.
With the current weather conditions and the possibilities for tomorrow we are going to go ahead and postpone the Chucky's ride for tomorrow. There are a few areas that we are concerned about riders safety if we get any ice that is forecasted, there are some areas that will not receive attention prior to the ride and its not worth riders potentially getting hurt. There is an adventurer in all of us but we don't want to risk injuries in this circumstance. We are looking at possibly next weekend or the one after, stay tuned for further details.
We appreciate your eagerness for this ride and hope that you understand where we are coming from.

Use Caution
Just a reminder that while out riding to use caution on the roadways, and keep an eye out for traffic. Also make sure you are familiar with road signs, below are a few to keep you sharp.
Hopefully we can have fun without horsing around.
I am thankful for such great information.
Enough said.
Things are shaping up nicely for Chucky's Challenge, this Saturday Feb 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in historic downtown Jamesport, MO. Again there is a small grocery store near the start area for any last minute needs or post ride needs, also several Amish bakeries in the area to refuel after the ride.

SAG
Remember when we were kids and life was easy, really no cares in the world? A day when we played outside until after dark, rode our bikes in the streets, had rock fights, climbed trees, all sorts of fun stuff. Did you ever spend the weekend with your grandparents and get spoiled rotten? Sure you had boundaries but maybe got away with a little more? And then after a full day of playing, you went running into the bathroom only to catch one of your Grandparents getting out of the shower....YIKES!!!
What's my point? My point is that sometimes we need SUPPORT! Whether you need support from "sagging" or support from "SAG" it happens, we can help with one of these (and it won't be for "sagging"). We will have a SAG vehicle that plans to be at the 25 mile point and also the 41 miles point, if you would like to put a bag of items in this vehicle at the start then please plan to do so. Now the distance between the two stops isn't too terribly far apart depending on faster riders speeds and slower riders speeds so please prepare as best as you can.
Again the 2014 edition of Chucky's Challenge is this Saturday Feb 1, we will be leaving from the 4 way stop in downtown Jamesport at 10:00.

2014 Chucky's Route
Alright Folks the route is set, we are less than a week away and ready for some good times on gravel. I can't guarantee there will not be a dog on this ride, just in case I would not recommend bacon as an on the bike fuel. If you must then I would stick it in your buddies jersey pocket without him knowing it!
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/351362003
We will head South out of Jamesport on rolling hills passing through prime Amish farmsteads. Will hit river flats at about mile 10 and will be in the flats for approx. 15 miles. Plenty of time to get the legs warmed up before the punchy climbs of the last half of the "Challenge".
We will have a SAG vehicle at mile 25 and then he will proceed onto mile 41, more to follow about this later.
We will have cue sheets for riders, if you plan on attending why don't you post a comment below so we have an estimate of how many sheets to plan on. Check this site prior to departure, we plan to play on Saturday but sometimes Mother Nature is overly cruel so check back for updates.
